Why does 上车 look like this?
'上' (shàng) means 'up' or 'onto,' and '车' (chē) means 'vehicle.' Together, they literally mean 'going up onto a vehicle.' The radical of '上' is '一' (one/base), and '车' is its own radical, originally picturing a chariot from above!
